Our lives are but
Time in a bottle
Tossed upon the ocean of life
Some float close to shore
Others are swept up in the tide
While some ride the waves, soaring so high
Going to lands far and wide
While some are washed ashore
So quickly after being tossed
Into the ocean of life
And some content to just float on calm water
Close to shore
Love is but a message in a bottle
Tossed upon the ocean
With the hope
Of being found by someone special
Hoping not to be found by someone who will
Toss the bottle aside
Hoping to be found by a kindred spirit
Hoping the spirits will rise above the
Crest of the highest wave
Riding the surf with ecstasy and delight
The message in the bottle will do all
Ride the highest wave
Float on calmest waters
Wash ashore to rest
Only to be swept out on the next tide
Bring the spirits joy beyond belief
With the promise of treasures untold
Travel to lands far and wide
As the time in a bottle
We must ride the tides
Go where they take us
We must toss our
Message in the bottle
Into the ocean of life or
Love will never be found
Heights never reached
Ecstasy not realized
Smiles never smiled
Tears of joy not shed
Quickening of the heart not felt
The soul never fulfilled
Toss your message in a bottle
Into life’s pool
Let the currant take
Your love to the limit
Fill your soul with the joys untold
